Albums and smart collections

Use manual albums for project selections. Assets can belong to multiple albums; adding them to another album preserves existing memberships. Set an asset as an album cover to make a project easier to recognize.

Smart collections save rules rather than a fixed selection. Available rules include format, minimum rating, favorites and review state. Edit the rules when your review criteria change.

Ratings, tags and colors

Use star ratings for priority, favorites for quick access, tags for subjects, and color labels for your own workflow stages. Select multiple assets to organize a batch.

Combine filters

Filter by media type, format, orientation, tags, color labels, rating and date. Sort by date, name or file size. Check active filters if a file appears to be missing; reset them to widen the view.

Choose a search mode

• Filename: matches all or part of a file name without an AI model.
• Natural language: describes visual content and searches the local semantic index. Results depend on completed indexing and the model.
• Search by image: uses a reference image to find similar images; included in Standard and Premium.
• OCR: paid plans unlock local text recognition for supported images.

These image search capabilities do not imply full-video semantic indexing, speech transcription or searching every frame of a Live Photo.

When results look incomplete

Clear filters, check that the file is in the selected library or collection, and inspect background tasks. Let indexing finish before comparing natural-language results. Reopen missing source files or check their location if they have been moved outside AePix.
